Hello & Welcome

Summit Ceramics: Dont just climb mountains, Move them.

There we were sitting at a bar in the OBX thinking of names for my ceramics business. My brother said “Let’s start with your favorite things to do” I start, “I like going to the park, being on the water, playing with my nieces and nephews outside, campi-“ Okay so hiking, What’s your favorite part? “When you make it to the top, when you summit” because when you get to top the exhaustion, mental fight, and hard work is nothing but fresh air and relief, a weight taken off your shoulders… and just like that Summit Ceramics was created. I came across that saying a long time ago though. It was a gift. In this gift was the virtue of not settling. So don’t settle and don’t just climb mountains, move them.

My name is Haley Reindel. My love for all things pottery started in Oregon, OH where my dad taught me everything I know and love about the outdoors, and my mom everything I know and love about creating. I started my pottery journey at a local college, taking classes and learning from many experienced makers. As classes started to shut down, I knew I wasn’t ready to stop making pottery. I was three years in and I felt as if I was just beginning. Just as life closes one door, it opens another. A kiln was basically handed over to me and without even knowing how to turn it on, a new adventure began. I then took the leap and bought a wheel and got to work, in my parents “soon to be” second bathroom. That soon to be bathroom is still a pottery studio to this day… about 3 years later. (Thanks Mom and Dad!) Where my mom makes the most wonderful smelling candles, not to mention the most detailed ceramic pieces with the patience of a saint. Where there has been more off-tune singing and tears and clay splattered walls than I would like to admit. Where my dad fires up the kiln and spends 10+ hours a day watching it. Where we have ‘Glazing Parties’ and my family and friends gather around the table to help. Where Summit Ceramics is a hobby for the whole family.
